Monaghan Town Swimming Pool and Leisure Centre comprises a 25 metre swimming pool, a health suite with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, a gymnasium, aerobics studio, tourist office and tennis courts. It also features a variety of children's activities such as water slides. It attracts approximately 100,000 visitors per annum.
The project involved demolition of the existing poll and excavation of a large area to accommodate the much more substantial new pool complex.
The construction of the pool complex involved detailed co-ordination of mechanical and electrical sub-contractors whose work elements were critical to the successful completion of such a facility. The building also features "Glulam" beams, a high specification glazed curtain wall facade, and a external flume.
Construction of this project was carried out under the GDLA form of contract, and delivered quality standards in keeping with the architect's design. It was competed on programme and demonstrates P. Elliott's ability to deliver high-quality leisure facilities throughout the country.
