This project comprised the construction of a multi-storey car park with retail units, staff facilites and basement storage for Brown Thomas Department Store. The site was surrounded by buildings and roads on all boundaries and is an excellent example of P. Elliott's ability to execute a project on a restricted site.
This being a protected structure, a major section of the facade on Clarendon Street had to be retained during the construction phase. This was achieved without disruption to the operation of the building.
The project also consisted of an access walkway from an upper floor in the multi-storey car park to an upper floor in Brown Thomas for both those parking in the car park and for the Brown Thomas staff to access the staff facilities. This posed particular logistical challenges with much of the construction being carried out ouside of normal working hours.
The project demonstrates the ability of P. Elliott & Company to deliver a challenging city centre project within the confines of a restricted site, in an operational area, while observing best practice in conservation.
