Lakeland Retail Park is situated on Cavan's busy Dublin Road. From a construction view-point this project presented challenges particularly in the ground works. The southern end of the site was rock and the northern end was 1.5m under the water table. The majority of the buildings were piled using pre-cast driven piles.
The works were commenced in October 2002 and Woodies DIY opened for business in August 2003 - 2 months ahead of schedule. The buildings extended to some 130,000 sq ft in total.
This project has been one of P. Elliott's most successful projects ever. It demonstrates our ability to deal with very adverse ground conditions while delivering a project ahead of programme.
