Contract Information
Main Building Contractor
Founded in 1985, Techrete is a leading company in the design, manufacture, and supply of architectural pre-cast cladding to the Irish and U.K. construction markets. The company offers a complete pre-cast solution, providing services ranging from design through manufacture to erection. Employing 250 people, the company is based in Ireland and the U.K. Following a decision to relocate the H.Q. from Howth, P. Elliott & Company were awarded the contract to construct the new facility.
The new headquarters comprise a state of the art production facility, and new offices for the company on a 15 hectare site in Balbriggan. The building is constructed using Techrete’s own sandwich panels in contrasting colours of grey and white with an exposed aggregate finish. A large emphasis is placed on environmental impact with advanced measures such as rainwater harvesting and effluent management systems being provided. The office building features prefabricated vaulted floor units, and embedded coils for both heating and cooling the building.
Prefabrication of many of the building elements facilitated a fast-track programme and the factory went into production in March 2008, four and a half months after site start, while the offices were completed on programme. This project showcases the ability of P. Elliott & Company to deliver modern state-of-the-art production facilities to fast-track programmes, within strict budgetary constraints.
