The Digital Hub is an Irish Government initiative to create an international centre of excellence for knowledge innovation, and creativity, focused on digital content and technology enterprises.
The core development of nine acres is located a ten minute walk from the city centre within the historic Liberties area of Ireland’s capital city, Dublin. Over the next decade, this initiative will create a mixed-use development, consisting of enterprise, residential, retail, learning and civic space.
This project involves the provision of high-spec office space as part of the Digital Hub Development. It comprises demolition of an existing building, construction of a new building in its place, refurbishment of an existing connected protected structure, and the fit-out of the entire development.
The Works included demolition, asbestos removal, underpinning, and waste removal. Given the restricted city-centre nature of the site, careful management was required to avoid nuisance, manage traffic, and co-operate with adjoining building owners. The new building features Nedzinc cladding, stone cladding, and Levolux Brise Soleil and louvres. The existing building was refurbished in line with best Conservation practice.
The project was delivered to a fast-track programme from October‘09 to May’10 and demonstrates the ability of P.Elliott to deliver state-of-the-art work spaces to demanding programmes, in restricted city-centre environments.
