Contract Information
This scheme comprises a privately operated public crθche, and a resource facility operated by the HSE. It is the first facility of its kind in Athlone town. Services provided include pre-school care, after-school care, adult and child therapy, physiotherapy, and general administration.
P. Elliott & Company Ltd were awarded the contact in competitive tender under Public Procurement Guidelines. This project involves the construction of a three storey building measuring 2,260 m² in floor area on a greenfield site.
The reclaimed ground conditions required driven steel piles with a continuous ground beam. The building is constructed using an insitu-concrete frame with solid slab flooring. External finishes include “monocouche” coloured render on load-bearing blockwork. There is also a glazed atrium and glazed bridge link with supporting architectural steelwork.
External works comprise over sixty car parking spaces, a children's play area and landscaped areas.
The project demonstrates the ability of P. Elliott to deliver high-quality healthcare facilities throughout the country, within strict cost and programme parameters.
