The Athletes Village is a Lendlease Developments Ltd. project for the 2012 Olympic Games. It includes the Design and construction of Rail Infrastructure, Roads, Utilities, 2,700 new homes of various sizes and tenures, public realm, landscaping, all-age Academy School, a hotel, retail units, and ancillary works.
P. Elliott were appointed as preferred bidder in November 2009 for the Design & Build of Plot N14 -- Athletes' accommodation. The scheme comprises 201 residential units accommodating 1,500 athletes during the games. This scheme will be re-configured post-2012 (to 'legacy mode') and the Athletes Village will form part of a wider regeneration of the area. The units will be a mix of market, intermediate, and social tenures. Plot N14 consists of four blocks in a U-shape around a central courtyard, ranging from 8 to 11 storeys, with parking for 99 cars, 20 motorbikes, and 201 bicycles. Construction is re-inforced concrete frame with pre-cast facades and recessed glazing.
Construction is scheduled from Dec'09 to Aug'11, with the conversion to residential units (Legacy mode) programmed from Mar '13 to Mar '14.
