Cavan General Hospital is a 226 bed hospital located in Cavan Town, facilitating 1,516 births in 2006.
This project was won in competitive tender by P. Elliott & Company Ltd. Two six-bed wards were converted into two maternity units incorporating two birthing pools and waiting areas. This project was carried out in an operational area of the hospital which imposed severe restrictions on site access and on construction activities.
P. Elliott & Company Ltd staff worked closely with hospital management to avoid any disruption to hospital operations, and this involved careful planning and attention to detail. Stringent health & safety procedures were implemented to ensure the wellbeing of patients, hospital staff, and construction staff.
The project was completed successfully, on time, and on budget, and resulted in a first-class facility for Cavan Hospital. It is an excellent example of P. Elliott's ability to plan and execute complex construction work within an operational medical area, while complying with the best practice.
