Cavan General Hospital is a 226 bed hospital located in Cavan Town. This project was won in competitive tender by P. Elliott & Company Ltd. The works comprise the construction of;
· Extension to the Maternity Ward on the roof of the existing stores area to provide a new special baby care unit
· Provision of a new roof-mounted plant room
· MRI unit facility, enabling works and Oncology Ward fit-out
· Internal demolition work, and external site works requiring extensive site and traffic management
This project is in an operational area of the hospital which imposes severe restrictions on site access and on construction activities. Close co-ordination of mechanical and electrical sub-contractors is required.
P. Elliott & Company Ltd staff have worked closely with hospital management to avoid any disruption to hospital operations, and this involves careful planning and attention to detail. Stringent health & safety procedures were implemented to ensure the wellbeing of patients, hospital staff, and construction staff.
This project is an excellent example of P. Elliott’s ability to plan and execute complex construction work within an operational area, while complying with the best practice.
