Safety - Our No. 1 Priority
As a major contractor P. Elliott has an obligation to comply with the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005, the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Applications) Regulations 1993, the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006 and all other legislation relevant to our operations and to ensure so far as is reasonably practicable the Safety, Health and Welfare of all it's employees, and further to ensure that persons not in its employment, who may be affected by its work activities, are not thereby exposed to risk to their safety and health.
- Where P. Elliott undertakes the role of Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) it has additional responsibilities for the management of safety on site. The Company recognises that work accidents and work related health issues cause suffering to persons affected and possible financial loss to themselves and to the Company. The Company and its employees have a common interest in minimising the possibility of accidents and ill health.
- Where P. Elliott undertakes the role of Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) has additional responsibilities for the management of safety during the Design stage of a project.
- We are committed to securing the safety of all. We will provide the necessary resources, structures and procedures that are required to safe guard all affected personas against the risks arising from our activities in the workplace.
- It is the strict duty of all employees to conform to Company safety policies and practices and to carry out the personal responsibilities as detailed in the Safety Statement and in accordance with any other relevant legislation. With respect to specific persons, their safety, health and welfare duties must be properly delegated in their absence.
- All persons who authorise work must ensure the safety, health and welfare of all persons involved, directly or indirectly.
- The Company will strive for continual improvement for all personals and for all projects it undertakes.
- This will be achieved by taking a pro-active approach to the management of safety and health as an integral part of managing a successful business.
The Company achieves this by:
- Ensuring that applicable legal requirements are identified and adopted as our minimum acceptable performance standards.
- Setting safety and health objectives and periodically reviewing performance against them.
- Defining the responsibility and authorities for managers with particular responsibility for its safety and health performance.
- Ensuring that all levels, training and appropriate information on safety and health is provided so that people are competent and safety conscious.
- Involving and consulting all Safety Representatives to identify their safety and health concerns and to gain their commitment to our policy.
- Plan safe systems of work and ensure that continuous monitoring and appraisal is undertaken.
- Operate a robust and systematically reviewed safety management system, with the provision of necessary internal and external resources.
- The Board of Directors gives full back to this policy and will support all who implement it and look for continual improvement.
This statement of Company Policy will be displayed prominently at all sites and workplaces.
